Raw Story
I just watched ABC News coverage of the body cam video from the recent attack on an LDS church in Michigan. It's unfathomable how someone could watch that raw video and think "what this needs is someone talking over the top of it." The video is so much more meaningful and powerful shown the way it originally was at the press conference. If you haven't seen the footage yet, or want to see it done well, look up the news conference where the LEO from Grand Blanc released it.

Something I haven't seen widely discussed is that the Grand Blanc shooter didn't tip over into wild anti-LDS conspiracism til after dating and breaking up with a Mormon woman. Maybe it was just living in Utah that put him onto that variety of hate, or maybe it was resentment of a specific woman plus inchoate misogyny.

Anyway, it's yet another shooter who had ~issues~ with women.

Michigan church shooting suspect long harbored hatred toward Mormon faith, friends say

Friends of the man accused of killing four people after opening fire in a Michigan church say he long harbored animosity toward the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but never made any threats against its members. His friends say he began making those feelings known years ago following his return from Utah where he got addicted to methamphetamine after a stint in the Marines Corps. He came back to Michigan after breaking up with his girlfriend who was a member of the Mormon faith. Police have released very few details about the suspect, 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford. He was shot and killed by officers minutes after the attack Sunday morning.

Mormon church shooting: Former Marine kills 4, injures 8 in Michigan

At least 100 federal investigators are responding to an attack in a Michigan community where a former Marine crashed a pickup into a Mormon church, shot into the building and then set it ablaze during a Sunday service. Police fatally shot the man, and at least four people were killed with eight injured. It was the latest of many shooting attacks on houses of worship in the U.S. over the past 20 years, including one in August that killed two children during Mass at the Church of the Annunciation in Minneapolis. Authorities identified the man they said carried out the attack but a motive is not clear yet.

Anti-Mormon hate has a long history.
It dates back to Joe Smith being a multi-faceted conman. And yeah, the polygamy thing, but the anti-Mormon violence in Independence and Nauvoo had roots in very sketchy business dealings, which you will not hear about in most retellings of the Mormon story.
I'd bet that there are no such issues in #GrandBlanc, it's much more likely just a theological dispute. Normal for the many splinters of "Christianity" which have been killing each other for millennia.
Amazing that they didn't find more bodies in the ashes in #GrandBlanc. Probably a lot of credit has to go to the rapid police response, as the news I've been hearing (Michigan Public/NPR) says the whole incident from the crash to the perp down was under 10m.
