Love the new public space which has been created at the historic Govan Graving Docks in Glasgow. For me, it has just the right mix of old and new to maintain its links with the past while still giving it a modern feel.

Good morning, Glasgow. This was today's stunning sunrise over the Govan Graving Dock Number 3. When it was opened in the 1890s, it was one of the largest dry docks in the world.

Upper scuttle valve cover in the gate of the number two Govan Graving Dock, Glasgow.

You can tell that this houses the upper scuttle valve because it says so right on the cover. It also tells you what the open and closed positions for the valve are.

Knowing what an upper scuttle valve does, and when you should be opening or closing it, is quite a different matter!
