I love this mural by Frodrik on the concrete blocks used to fill in one of the arches of the fromer Cumberland Street Station on the Southside of Glasgow. It fits in perfectly with the shape of the arch.

It was created a decade before the better known, and much larger Loch Katrine project was even started. However, both systems used gravity to help supply their water to the nearby city, and much of both systems are still in use today.
The 1840s draw-off tower at Waulkmill Glen Reservoir near Darnley to the south of Glasgow. This was part of the Gorbals Gravitation Water Company development desighed by the engineer William Gale to supply clear water to the Gorbals area of Glasgow.

From here, they produced their upmarket knitwear which was sold by the likes of Selfridges, House of Fraser and Harrods. Their products were seen as being particularly fashionable in the 1960s and 1970s, but by the start of the 1980s it was in decline and it soon closed.

Love this ghost sign, which was uncovered and restored as the old Twomax knitwear factory in the Gorbals area of Glasgow was being converted into residential flats.
Twomax was started in a disused pub in the Bridgeton by Hugh McClure and Donald McIntosh (the two Macs from which its name was derived), before moving to this location on Old Rutherglen Road.

The former Twomax factory on Old Rutherglen Road in the Gorbals area of Glasgow. Originally built as a cotton mill in 1817, it was taken over by Twomax, a Glasgow-based knitwear manufacturer, in the 1920s. In the last few years, it's been converted into residential flats.

Looking up at the steeple of the Blessed John Duns Scotus Church on Ballater Street in the Gorbals area of Glasgow is reminiscent of looking up at the prow of a great ship. Built in 1975, it was designed by William James Gilmour as a homage to the city's ship-building industry.

The presence of this relic has led to Glasgow being called The City of Love. However, given that there are relics of St Valentive in a number of other churches around the world, including in Birmingham, Dublin, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, it doesn't exactly have a unique claim to this title.
