It's ugly, but it works. Let's start making it look like a real Mac app. (without too much glass 🙈)

Oh, nice! I can upload a FIT recording of the activity and match the time / location. So I now have all sensor data at playhead position. :)

Today I found my #GoPro Hero7 in the drawer, charged it and mounted it on my bike. Turns out: when GPS is turned on it records the GPS location continuously. Amazing!

I made an extractor for GPS and SRT (in good old DJI style).

“Suffocation hypothesis,” autopsy reports on the bodies of the divers who died in the Maldives continue. Await further results.

The autopsies on the bodies of the five divers who died on May 14 during an immersion at over 50 meters deep in the Maldives continued in the morning of May 26. On Monday, examinations were performed on the bodies of Gianluca Benedetti and Federico Gualtieri at the hospital in Gallarate (Varese); today, Monica Montefalcone, Giorgia Sommacal, and Muriel Oddenino will undergo examination. Information regarding the causes of death is still emerging, and the results of toxicological tests and the final report will not be available for 90 days; the most likely scenario is asphyxiation and subsequent drowning.

The operations were entrusted to expert consultants Luca Tajana, Cristiana Stramesi, and Luciano Ditri, appointed by the public prosecutor of Busto Arsizio, Nadia Calcaterra, on behalf of the Rome prosecutor’s office, which is investigating a charge of negligent manslaughter. Family consultants also participated: for Montefalcone and Sommacal, forensic physician Enrica Valdi, appointed by the lawyers Giuseppe Pugliese and Alessandro Albert, who represent Carlo Sommacal, Monica Montefalcone’s husband and father of Giulia Sommacal.

“The first two autopsies have concluded and no particular findings were made on the bodies. Numerous samples were taken for histological and toxicological examinations. Only these examinations will provide information, but we must wait for the expert report, for which the experts have requested and obtained ninety days of time.” This was the comment of legal counsel for the Gualtieri family, Gianluigi Dell’Acqua, who hoped the bodies of the victims could be returned to their families “in the coming days. We await authorization from the Prosecutor’s Office.”

Parallel examinations were also conducted at the Forensic Medicine Institute of the University of Pavia, which, however, had at this time ruled out the presence of obvious anomalies, deferring any conclusions to the histological and toxicological investigations ordered by the specialists. In any case, establishing the exact circumstances will be determined by the analysis of the GoPro cameras and equipment worn by the victims, although Italy will need to request an international request for evidence (rogatory letter) to obtain that material.

It will also be important to obtain documents and testimonies to define the permits for the expedition. The focus of the investigation is the mission entrusted to the University of Genoa by Professor Montefalcone, although the university had clarified from the earliest days after the tragedy that “the underwater diving activity did not in any way fall within the scope of the scientific mission, but was carried out on a personal basis.” This triggered controversy when the university removed the institutional profiles of Professor Muriel Oddenino from its online directory.

“Hypothesis of Asphyxiation,” autopsies continue on divers who died in the Maldives. Waiting for the rest of the results comes from Il Fatto Quotidiano.

Tragedy during a dive in the Maldives, the last two bodies of Sommacal and Oddenino have been recovered: “The Venturi effect is not ruled out.”

The last two bodies of the group of five Italian divers who died in an immersion in the Vaavu atoll, Maldives, have also been recovered. These were those of 23-year-old Giorgia Sommacal and research assistant Muriel Oddenino at the University of Genoa. Investigations by local authorities are continuing: according to initial leaks from them, Professor Monica Montefalcone of the University of Genoa, mother of Sommacal, was wearing a short wetsuit that would not be considered entirely suitable for a dive in a cave at a depth of over 50 meters. The Rome Prosecutor’s Office has also opened an investigation for manslaughter.

Only the body of Gianluca Benedetti had been recovered immediately, after the news of the tragedy arrived last Thursday. In the rescue and recovery operations on Saturday, a diver from the Maldivian armed forces, Mohamed Mahadi, died. The intervention of the specialists from DAN Europe (Divers Alert Network), sent by the Italian government, was necessary. The three Finnish divers Sami Paakkarinen, Jenni Westerlund, Patrik Grönqvist, on Monday located the bodies and brought them to the surface between yesterday and today. A phased recovery with the divers and Maldivian police. Yesterday, the bodies of Monica Montefalcone and Federico Gualtieri were recovered.

Both the computers worn by the victims and the GoPro cameras worn by the divers who recovered the bodies could shed light on the causes of the tragedy, which are still unknown. The Maldivian authorities have seized all the equipment recovered. The bodies will be repatriated, and autopsies will be performed. At the moment, the most credible track is that of the loss of orientation inside the cave. The so-called “Venturi effect” – the possibility of being sucked into a very strong current while merely conducting a reconnaissance from the outside of the Alimathà caves – is not ruled out.
