Unfortunately I haven't been able to configure Lynx to open mpv with a video file. If I set the filetype to ";" (video) gophernicus displays "MOV". I've tried all the Lynx config tricks to no avail:

VIEWER:video/*:mpv --title="Mpv" %s &:XWINDOWS

EXTERNAL:video:xdg-open %s &:TRUE:TRUE

So I've set the filetype to "9", BIN, so that Lynx proposes to download the video file.

@michaelc I really want to make something of my gopher://tiredof.technology space but I'm soon moving which means I will re-locate the server as it is self-hosted using #gophernicus via Docker. I want to move it to its own dedicated RPi where I can really expand it.

@me Love your website! My first impression was late 1990s but that style lasted into the 2000s for sure.

I spotted your #gophernicus post on your blog. I've been trying out pygopherd, but you are inspiring me to check that out before I put my #gopher hole on the internet.

I've added some content to my #gopher server by turning my #blog into a #phlog.

I wrote a simple perl script that takes an RSS feed of a blog and turns the posts into individual text files. Combined with #gophernicus, which can automagically generate gophermaps, I should have a text-only mirror of my blog available on the gopher network. ๐Ÿน

@knopi The language itself matters -- a bit. More important are concepts and mindsets. It seems to me that you are looking maybe for #gophernicus. A few good thoughts can be found here: https://hackaday.com/2021/09/28/gopher-the-competing-standard-to-www-in-the-90s-is-still-worth-checking-out/
Gopher, The Competing Standard To WWW In The โ€™90s Is Still Worth Checking Out

The 30th anniversary of the World Wide Web passed earlier this year. Naturally, this milestone was met with truckloads of nerdy fanfare and pining for those simpler times. In three decades, the Webโ€ฆ

I am a little disappointed that two #Debian packages that I treasure were removed from the unstable branch and presumably may be lost in future stable branches. They are #rawdog and #pygopherd. I have replaced pygopherd, a gopher server, with #gophernicus and that turned out well. I may also be wrong on my belief that rawdog may be exempt from future Debian stable branches because I see that it will be present in #bullseye. I really love rawdog but I think it's written in Python2 and I'm assuming that's the reason it's not represented in #Sid, the Debian unstable branch. Does anyone have any clues? For those who do not know, rawdog is a, RSS Aggregator Without Delusions Of Grandeur, clever.
