Teachers urged to use Google Classroom must have two worries. One worry is that it will be successful, the other worry is that it will be a failure.
If Google Classroom is successful and manages to monopolize a big Digital Diploma Mill market the users (addicted poor students and teachers!?!??) will suffer from "enshittification". If it is a failure it will disappear like Google+ that SNS alternative to Facebook.that was closed down, kind of like Yahoo's geocities I guess..

Oh... kay #Google !

Dear deep #Privacy watchers:

I don't understand half of this, & generally avoid Google products if I can; don't do cloud, and stay un-logged in when possible.

I haven't enjoyed/respected Google since the genocide of the beloved #GooglePlus community, and the repeal of #DontBeEvil ...

BUT... even as a non-paranoid, non-Google-platform user who studies #media & #words ... Is this not ominous?

@anna I had a friend who constantly brought it up (at the time it felt like another Google+ or MeWe). The Twitter downturn finally had me accept the suggestion/invitation to join. And I was hooked for idealogical reasons. 🙂

I’m excited about all the different facets of the Fediverse. Free software without paywalls feels like a playground to explore. It reminds me of the days of learning about alternative operating systems to Mac OS (period correct formatting).

The community movie night was also charming (sometimes—I’m not a horror fan 😅).

I appreciate the control I can have over so much of my experience.
