Chess battle 2d platformer?

Theme is a small world, so why not a chess game where you play as a Pawn and must defeat the entire enemy army by yourself?

It takes me a long time to solidify a habit and posting in this dev blog is probably going to be no different for me, but at least I've made some progress here on this screen! Most of what's to easily show off is aesthetic improvements, but there's bug fixes too, haha.

I've envisioned the setting as a city full of signage in any language you can think of. Problem is there are so many languages and I can ACTUALLY speak… two.

Right now my partner's working very hard on menus and the battle system. It's one of the big humps we have to get over before we can start building a demo and the rest of the game. I, meanwhile, probably have to draw thousands of sprites. And cars. So many cars.

So I spent the afternoon running through the 2D tutorial for GODOT. Seemed rather straight forward, but tomorrow I will be looking at 3D 😲

Obviously it's all other peoples work I've just followed it, but it's a start!
