To my surprise spontaneous research into online newspaper archives lets me conclude that Robert #Goddard was pretty popular in German newspapers from 1919 to 1941: his achievements and plans were often misrepresented but he was usually treated on a par with other famous rocket pioneers, especially Hermann Oberth.
