I installed Windows10 on my Linux Distro, as there are still no FOSS solutions to update a Garmin GPS and to backup/manage an iPhone.

I found out that Gnome Boxes is nice but useless, as the iPhone crashes the Win10 Machine due to the USB not being reverse-compatible to USB-2(ehci), but that 'Virt-Manager' works, if you adjust it to USB-2 from the drop-down menu.

upgraded to #Debian #Trixie today.

Did not check if #VirualBox is compatible yet.

Now using #GnomeBoxes

Interesting. When I use the current #manjaro-#gnome-25.0.6-250730-linux612.iso in #gnomeBoxes it no longer sets the resolution according to my window size.
Luckily I still had manjaro-gnome-25.0.0-250414-linux612.iso in my archive which works fine.

@governa kool, I hope it will also be distributed as #flatpak #package. It would have the same limitations as flatpak version of #gnomeboxes but for the most basic usage of spinning up #virtualmachine without any special network interfaces or other stuff that requires privilaged user intervention.

@ProfessorCode I believe more people are using #kvm based #virtualization instead of #virtualbox. So there should be more, and better guides for installing #virtmanager, #gnomeboxes or using #Virsh. But also why these guides are unnecessary verbose I suspect its because of #seo so the webpages get ranked higher in #google index, and have more views which should corespond to increased #ad revenue.

@rsm92 The only thing I miss in #gnomeboxes is installing systems in an external disk like virtualbox.

It makes about 10 years that I’ve been using #virtualbox and while it works great, having to install proprietary plugins or addons is not ideal. Specially on Arch where they come from the #AUR

So I’m very happy to share that I discovered #gnomeboxes by accident, because it was installed by default on #fedora

Great GNU/Linux support, and even with some minor #regedit , WinCrap 11 support . Not bad, I have found a replacement :)

Congrats to the #gnome developers !
