katch wreck`We report a fluorinated azido-coumarin scaffold which enables #photolabeling under fast and mild activation, and which can leave a #fluorescent tag on crosslinked species. Coupling this scaffold to an α-fucoside, we demonstrate fluorogenic photolabeling of #glycan-#protein interactions over a wide range of affinities. We expect this strategy to be broadly applicable to other #chromophores and we envision that such “fluoro-crosslinkers” could become important tools`

Ben SchumannAn #introduction into our work on #glycotime! We are a lab joint between the Francis Crick Institute and the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London. We develop what we call chemical "precision tools" to investigate protein #glycosylation. These tools are specific for individual #glycosyltransferases, #glycan subtypes or cell lines. We employ methods of #chembio including #OrgChem, protein engineering, #glycoproteomics, #imaging, #chemoenzymatic synthesis and drug discovery.
