@silverpill yes they had that site in the torrent but no link to a fedi profile, even checked search engines, so thanks.....how far along was #glutplug? they wrote:

Please consider a proposal we call #GlutPlug, whereby those who post, like and boost media can become the sharers of said content over a mixnet, preferably I2P. See #GlutPlug on fediverse for more on the idea."

I'd be interested in helping theproject anyways.

Been seeing this emoji around the place, made by a "dsfgs" and published over i2p torrent, but i'm unable to find them nor a hashtag #glutplug which apparently talks about decentralizing content delivery on fedi, something i support.

anyway I just really like the emoji can anyone see the person who made it?

boosts will help, thanks

If already making videos, yes. That would be wonderful!

Do mention that the videos are available on Fediverse in your intro or outro too. 😉

Re #contentDelivery we notice the need to provision services. It is great that TILvids can help but there are Fediverse instances shutting down due to inability to deliver content, such as our instance. So we're exploring a #P2P proposal we're calling #GlutPlug, to help instances stay online.

Use the tag to learn more 🙂

So we agree that instances should be small. Fifty people is a small number, but now with 150 followers and 150 follows on average, you get 50 * (150 + 150), an overall user demand of approx 15,000.

If at any one time, even just 10% of a servers' users are using a client that helps to #GlutPlug and deliver content, then we can cater to those 15,000 *much* more effectively.

We think peer-to-peer participation is the key to sustainability.

Also we wonder if @bob of the #Epicyon might be interested in the #GlutPlug proposal. It'd require little extra if the user is using Epicyon over I2P-configured browser, the server simply tells browser to fetch content from whichever #I2Peer deemed appropriate at the time. Clearnet users of Epicyon would simply not get GlutPlugged content, and just get everything from server as normal.

You well, Bob? Interested in #P2P content delivery and fedi sustainability?

@carlschwan @tokodon
Hi Dear Carl,

How did things go with the #characterLimit issue in #Tokodon.

Did you get our message about the "Content Warning" issue?

It looks like we won't be on this instance for long as Mastohost will be shutting down this one due to a lack of funds too :( We have written lately about how a participatory #P2P element might prevent fediverse from trending to a centralised state as content serving demands grow.

Please see #GlutPlug. We are interested in your thoughts.

We don't know if our #GlutPlug proposal is of interest here. Its for Fediverse #resilience so as fediverse scales instances don't have to shutdown due to overwhelming demands for content.

When a person boosts likes or replies to content they've downloaded they will also host it themselves for as long as it is in demand, over one of the three #I2P addresses provisioned for such. Server tells subsequent viewers to fetch content from these #I2Peers.

@msaunders @volkris @Mastodon
Whether this is about ActivityPub or not is of little consequence to us. All we see is that without some level of #participation/input from peers to help serve specific content (images and video), it is quite obvious that the #Fediverse will trend back towards re-centralisation.

We call on #I2P developers to explore how they can make something like #GlutPlug work in fediverse clients like #Tokodon (possibly #Fedilab too, but #AllPhonesAreBad so maybe not).

@volkris @Mastodon @msaunders

Yes and no, we meant decentralised as compared to the legacy offerings.

The way Master'don will trend is back torwards #reCentralisation, because of the #contentDelivery issue.

iwrc, some instances don't try to serve all content and #hotLink(?) to the originating instance, but that has issues too, incl. #privacy.

That's why we suggest servers play a #conductor's role. With a #glutPlug they'd hotlink to I2P hosted content served by fedizens who boosted it.

The most unsafe part about #fediverse is master-don dominates with its #antiFeatures.

M'don is not much decentralised as many assume (see #CDNs). We just had a little rant about it.

We cannot protect fedizens, without protecting instances themselves. Adoption of I2P and/or at least proposals like #GlutPlug to help decentralise #contentDelivery will protect instances, but such discussions are nowhere.

Case in point, even slow-moving #bitcoin has #I2P support now.
