A Festive Feast of Flavors

Gleaming sweets adorned with cheer,
Indulging every taste, oh dear!
Nutty spices fill the air,
Golden edges, crisp and rare.
Every bite a festive delight,
Rich and warm, a cozy sight.
Baked with love, a timeless treat,
Reaping joy, so rich and sweet.
Each piece tells a story bold,
A holiday tradition to behold.
Dancing flavors, memories unfold.

I realized that my town doesn’t have anywhere that serves cake. The grocer in town has cupcakes, but none of the several bakeries/coffee shops has cake. (one place that did closed in the winter). We have a pie shop, but pie is not cake (duh)

So today I made a gingerbread cake and used all the juice and zest of a giant lemon to make a simple icing.

I may have had a large piece for lunch.
