New blog post out now!
I'm talking a bit about how it all began, why I still push the blog to Codeberg, my short lived journey with Elfsight and why I'm now on Ghost.
I kept it really short since I don't think it needs much words.
For that, there are 7 posts planned for next month so stay tuned!

My way from misusing Codeberg for my blog to a very short-lived adventure with Elfsight to the new home of my blog, Ghost Greetings everyone, this time there's no code block with info about me. I think that's no more necessary at this point. At the time of writing this
For bloggers who post YouTube video embeds, here's a YouTube embed code generate which generates more privacy-friendly HTML to embed:

@elkcityhazard Here are screenshots of the #WordPress vs #GhostBlog admin dashboards before/after migration. (The Ghost stats aren't accurate because it's pre-launch / pre-import).
Ghost(Pro) also integrates analytics for newsletters, web traffic and has direct ActivityPub integration as well!
@elkcityhazard It's also an excellent time to reconsider WordPress altogether. I'm helping a ~1,000 post site move to Ghost now.
Ghost doesn't have plugins (so no plugin security problems!), yet can handle what 50 plugins were doing. Why?
Ghost has good SEO, newsletter integration, and tips / donations.
Ghost is not a full CMS and doesn't complete with WordPress on all fronts, but sure is refreshingly more pleasant to manage and use!
Hum, trying out the Ghost Fediverse integration and for now I see:
Need more testing, but I hope to find the reason for this! I would love to have it fix or at least help
For #SelfHosted #blogging, is #ghostblog really all that better than #WordPress? I'm thinking in #freemium terms.
The one thing that particularly bothered me about WordPress was how anything truly useful, outside of taxonomy, was the fact that it ties a lot of value to monthly subscription fees.
I even see the #ActivityPub implementation is single user only. I'm wondering if self hosted means you don't get multi user - or multi author support.
It's been it and #WriteFreely.
I also deleted my two Substack publications because I’m now using Ghost ( @blog )! Exciting!
I wrote a little tool to automate monthly potluck reminders with Ghost.
I start with a CSV with the potluck dates, path to a featured photo for that month and YouTube URL to feature in the message.
The tool schedules monthly posts 2 weeks that also go out via email, and an reminder 2 days before. The messages also mention the upcoming meetings.

Happy new year! Anyone running a #GhostBlog (version 6) #selfhosted with #ActivityPub enabled? That was my latest #weekendproject. Unfortunately, the ActivityPub part is giving me quite a bit of trouble right now. It sort of works, but it’s pretty rough and/or #buggy. For example, I can’t delete messages/posts that I postet to the Fediverse. Has anyone gathered some #experience with this?
