Happy 50th Getty Villa 🎂

Grateful that this wonderful place full of art and history was spared from the fires 🙏

The museum was built with wildfire risk in mind. Structures were built with concrete and fire proof steel, fire-resistant stone roofing, heavy air filtration systems, and drought resistant plants throughout the property. The museum took precautions over the years to clear brush in the surrounding areas for wildfire prevention as well (from USA Today). All of these considerations and precautions have created a true safe house for their art and history.

Although it is closed indefinitely due to the fires, When everything is safe and reopened, I recommend visiting if you haven’t already. Admission is free with timed entry 💙
