Attn folks who want to #getfedihired
Please put your location in your post, even if you can only work remotely. For right to work and worker's comp reasons employers need to know your country + state / province / canton.
"But I have linked to my CV which includes this info!"
That's great, but no-one is looking at your CV until you are on the long list, and you aren't getting on the long list without a location.
Help us hire you.
So, looks like Xero's pulling a Silicon Valley move, and giving many engineers the boot.
Someone very good and thorough I know is affected, too. So ... asking for a friend ...
If anyone in/close to Auckland needs a senior software engineer with back- and front-end experience (definitely JavaScript/TypeScript, possibly/likely also other like Python and/or Rust): Please, shout out. He also knows a bit or two about cryptography, RESTful services, etc.
not much hope for this but desperate at this point.
looking for basically anything remote in cybersecurity.
i was a SOC Analyst previously and i have a degree, experience, excellent time management etc. #getfedihired
thanks for humoring me
So I tend to boost certain posts almost automatically, like introductions. One other category is anything about employment: Looking for work, looking to hire.
Tags are important. If the OP doesn't use the right tags ( #FediHire, #GetFediHired), I usually quote with the missing tags in addition to the boost.
In particular, there's a bot, @fedihire, that automatically boosts the FediHire tag. Auto tag boosting like this is extremely valuable. It amplifies your posts with no effort.
But I checked & 🥁 the bot has 0 followers. lol. Its boosts do absolutely nothing.
Well, now it has 1 follower, so I see its boosts, at least.
If you're looking for work or hiring, you may wanna follow that bot. 👆
I guess I’m finally going to make one of those #GetFediHired posts
I’m really good with Python (I’ve been using it for 16 years) and other high-level languages. I’ve also worked with React, Redux, Django, and other web stuff like that. I’ve at least dabbled in pretty much every type of development and I think I could learn each of them pretty fast if need be. I’m very experienced with Windows and I can get by well enough on Linux
I think I could comfortably do any kind of development-related work, and to be honest I could probably figure out sysadmin or networking stuff too, but I’m honestly open to any type of work! I’ll take anything that pays a livable wage
anyway please let me know if you have any job leads for me, or can put in a good word for me somewhere! it would help a ton. I desperately need some kind of income
edited to add: I’m in DFW, Texas, but I might also be able to travel somewhere else if it means having a job long-term (and I’d rather live somewhere other than Texas anyway)
