A deeply thought-provoking article, thank you for sharing. Much to reflect upon, I will give it plenty of re-reading.

And a fine homage to Gerard Unger, whose work stands above the change of fashion. I once produced a book for an NGO, all in Swift, and I love his Oranda, a typeface designed for a very specific print technology, but precisely because of its limitations it stands on its own.

Unger entwickelte im Laufe der Jahre viele Schriften, unter anderem für Zeitungen und für #Beschilderungssystem⁠e (niederländische Autobahnen, Amsterdamer U-Bahn). Er entwickelte auch Designs für Zeitschriften, Münzen, Bücher, Logos und Briefmarken. Neben seiner Arbeit im Schriftdesign war er im Bildungsbereich tätig.
