@goetz Have you tried it with https://gitlab.com/miyurusankalpa/IPv6-dns-server/ or https://codeberg.org/IPv6-Monostack/delegacy-rpz/ (shameless plug, and is less powerful)? In my limited testing, more or less all streaming services are #IPv6 capable if forced through one of the above methods. Maybe that helps with customer support: “I know your systems can rudimentarily support it, you just have to turn it on (and fix anything that breaks in your backend, but that happens anyway by me using the above methods 😈)”.

In particular, the #qobuz website is ipv6-only when having the required #akamai rules enabled. Their #geoip is clearly confused, moving everyone to gb-en.

@landley @pmevzek @jschauma @ryanc @0xabad1dea And that is espechally baffling considering that #APNIC as #RIR ran out of #IPv4|s first.

And right now I'm between a rock and a hard place and either become a @ripencc member or cough up equal amounts in monthly installments just to get some properly geolocated #IPv6.

Cuz people telling me "Oh, just use HEnet's Tunnelbroker"" never experienced the shitshow that is #Geoblocking and #GDPR-#Noncompliance with #Malvertising to slap their faces!

Cuz believe me, I tried, but since some idiots decided to #GeoIP entire #ASN|s and not #IP - #Allocations the PoP in FRA (FFM actually) will get me mislocated to the #USA!

@niklas @mattgrayyes worse even if one doesn't setup an account just to watch videos!

Then one cannot disable that shite which solely selects the used language based off vibes, which is really annoying when one has different #GeoIP "localizations" depending on whetger #IPv4, #IPv6 and whether one is on #Mobile or at home or at work!

Really makes me angry af!

A few months have passed and #Maxmind #GeoIP has yet again marked my #IPv6 /48 as "hosting" rather than "residential". This sets off alarms on various local streaming services, making them think I'm using a VPN.

My provider contacted them on multiple occasions, they fixed it once, and now it broke again.

So there you go, that one company that makes life difficult, because they can't figure out how to make persistent fixes to their darn database.

Das verringert die Latenzen für Benutzer aus nicht-EU Ländern und sorgt für weniger Frust bei den Ladezeiten.

В этой статье разберу задачу доставки контента и расскажу и решениях, которые помогают нам в RUTUBE. Дано: с одной стороны у нас 17,7 млн ежедневных пользователей, а с другой — 400 млн единиц контента. Оба эти показателя постоянно увеличиваются, а география присутствия пользователей расширяется. #ebay needs to update their #GeoIP database.

I've just logged on from an old computer in my house, and it's sent me an email saying someone has logged in from Shropshire, which is over 100miles away, when most sites think I am based in North London (which is still wrong, but my ISP is at least based there).

No other site seems to ever think I'm in Shropshire.

I wish companies would just list the IP address and browser details in their "a new device had logged in to you account" emails, any other details seem to be totally wrong, and therefore useless 🤬
