A character who should have stayed sidelined?
#GearsofWar was ready to move on from Marcus Fenix. We were close. The games had settled into a story of bloodlines and family ties. We'd seen the climax and resolution of Marcus and his dad Adam's relationship. We were diving into something similar with the Locust.
It was time to let Marcus retire from field command.
But then they couldn't. They couldn't let JD be a hothead fighting out from the weight of expectation of having a famous father.
Instead he gets sidelined again so we can play as (old) Marcus in Gears 5. Yes JD is playable but he feels like the son, not the new main character.
Gears of War: Reloaded blasts back on PS5 with stunning 4K, up to 120 FPS, and all DLC—classic cover-shooting action intact but still rocking that dated vibe.
