🐪🎨 Researchers at Max Planck Institute of Geoanthropology discovered 12,000-year-old rock art in #SaudiArabia's Nefud #Desert, featuring life-sized engravings of #camels, #gazelles, and extinct aurochs that push back evidence of human activity in the region by 2,000 years.

The #art shows #prehistoric people followed seasonal #water sources and traveled hundreds of kilometers for materials like shell beads, with some 2-meter-tall engravings carved on nearly inaccessible cliff faces nearly 40 meters above the ground.
