A generally rain-free cold front will move through the area Friday night, with breezy and conditions developing on Saturday. Given the dry vegetation/fuels that are already in place, concern is growing about critical fire weather conditions developing during the day on Saturday across the area. In these conditions, any fires that develop could spread rapidly. Outdoor burning would be strongly discouraged.

The forecast for next week favors warmer-than-normal temperatures (80% to 90% chance) across most of the Southeast. The forecast also favors normal to above-normal precipitation (not shown).

High pressure centered northeast of the area will extend over the Southeast US and keep conditions dry through at least Friday morning. Temperatures across western NC/SC and northeast GA will trend warmer through that time. Record high temperatures in the upper 80s are possible in the Piedmont on Friday.
