For #MountainMonday this time no hiking but cycling. The climb to Passo Gavia (2652m) is definitely one of the more challenging passes that I have climbed. But well worth it.

I picked this one, as I was reminded of the climb by this post, where you can see the road to the pass on the right hand side.

Last item of the second day was the mighty #Gavia. When I rolled up the summit at 10pm the road was empty except for a bunch of curious deer. Back down in Ponte di Legno I called it a day and had five hours of wholesome sleep, sadly without anything real to eat.

The first #cycling trips of the year have been planned, a new #TrainerDay training schedule made for indoors, moving outdoors more, soonish, I hope.

Concerning a big trip to #Bormio, Italy: besides the obvious climbs like the #Stelvio, #Mortirolo and the #Gavia, what are the best parts close to this town?
Five days of cycling, roadbike, let's say several days of 100+ km is possible: what routes including which climbs are the nicest to do?

Sometimes I do not hike up a mountain, but use a bike instead. The views are just a nice as when on foot and you see more in less time. This was during the climb to Passo di Gavia in the Italian Alps (2,621m / 8,600ft). I was lucky enough that there was hardly any other traffic, so was able to concentrate on riding and enjoying the surroundings.
