Pressure has to be applied directly to the bleeding artery, to stop the bleed, not just pack the cavity full of gauze.
While #haemostatic #gauze is great, if you don't have it available normal gauze will also do a good job. Multiple gauze packages may be needed.

Thereβs been a proliferation of new haemostatic #gauze products on the market lately, e.g. from #RhinoRescue, but this article remains worth reading.
