🚉 Great Western Railway will introduce a major timetable overhaul from 17 May, adding new services across the South West and Wales and expanding the network to 200 stations later this summer with the opening of Okehampton Interchange in #Devon.
The changes include the first phase of the Mid-Cornwall #Metro, with hourly trains between Par and Newquay, alongside new direct London-Newquay services and overnight links between Reading and #Gatwick Airport. GWR said the upgrades would improve access to jobs, education and tourism while reducing reliance on cars.
The operator said new and improved stations across the region could help unlock 238,000 jobs and £14.25 billion for the South West economy by 2035. Managing director Mark Hopwood described the timetable as “a statement of intent” to support regional growth and connectivity.
