@FractalTeapot you ever read the Red Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson? You sound like you would get along with the biological economists (something like that) that were very interested in breaking the cost of everything down to the smallest increment.

I'd propose that it would be far more feasible just to have a wealth asset tax similar to what Gary Stevenson proposes.
