Last night's watch was 'Gary', the prequel special of 'The Bear' that dropped out of nowhere last week, written by Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Jon Bernthal (you have to search for it as "Gary", as it's listed as a short film, not with the other episodes).
It digs deeper into the connection between Mikey and Richie, and you don't really need to be caught up to watch it, since it's a flashback. But knowing how far Richie's character has come over 4 seasons, and having watched certain episodes, especially when you realise that 'Gary' takes place a few months after 'Fishes', adds to the heaviness and makes certain parallels hit harder.
It's another example of how the show's biggest strength is in its raw, human moments. I know not everyone loved the latest season, but for me the series is still one of the best things on TV in a long time.
