13. Pigeons

🧠 Saw these guys overlooking the pond with all the other birds and wondered what they thought of it!

⭐I'm pleased with the separation between subject and background (emphasised a bit in lightroom as a by-product of trying to get rid of some noise.)

➡️ It's cropped quite a bit to isolate the subjects so not as sharp looking as I'd like.

12. Abandoned

🧠 One of the disused buildings at the old Gartnavel site.

⭐ I like the symmetry of the two trees framing the middle part of the building and the messy texture created by the branches in front of the stone.

➡️ I think it would look much better with a blue sky. Back the next sunny day!

The Walled Garden at Gartnavel Royal Hospital in Glasgow. Designed in the 1830s, it was originally created for the sole use of the hospital superintendent and their family. It's now used as a space where volunteers can work with patients as part of their therapy. It is also thought to be home to the oldest pear tree in the city.

The cenellated roofline of the west wing of Gartnavel Royal Hospital in the west end of Glasgow. Built in the 1830s in the Gothic Revival Style to a design by Charles Wilson.

Sculpted head on one of the entrances to the old Gartnavel Royal Hospital building in the west end of Glasgow. I love the expression on the face as if its resigned to all that the world has thrown at it in the last 180 years.

I always enjoy coming across these painted stones in the grounds of Gartnavel Hospital in the west end of Glasgow. They help brighten up my day, so thanks to whoever makes them.

This morning's blue skies over Gartnavel Royal Hospital in Glasgow.

Opened in 1843 and designed by the architect Charles Wilson, Gartnavel Royal Lunatic Asylum (as it was then known) sits on a hill above the west end of Glasgow and casts an imposing presence across this part of the city to this day.
