Skill Faire anarchiste

CÉDA, Sunday, May 17 at 10:00 AM EDT

On Sunday, May 17, CÉDA transforms into the sprawling, chaotic Skill Faire—a kind of anarchist science fair where trifold displays are encouraged and “please touch” is the norm. Tables and stations will showcase hands-on skills and tools, inviting people to try things out, ask questions, and leave with practical knowledge. In addition to tabling, there will be rooms reserved for longer, more in-depth skillshares that require time, focus, or specialized equipment. We welcome contributions in a wide range of topics, including:

  • Street medicine

  • Autonomous technology

  • Self-defense

  • Navigating conflict

  • Resolving conflict

  • Song, dance & art

  • Repairing your stuff

  • Altered states of consciousness

  • Construction & deconstruction

  • “Research”

D.I.Y. Skill Sharing Day

Batiment 7 / Tapage, Sunday, April 19 at 01:00 PM EDT

TDN - Technological Disobedience Network
Batiment 7
1900 Rue Le Ber, Montreal
April 19th, 1pm-7pm

We collectively - punks, fuckups, queers, anarchists - have all the skills we need to reject techno-fascism.

We want people to come share their D.I.Y. practices to strengthen the mutual aid networks in place, and hopefully build new ones.

We're putting on a D.I.Y. skill sharing day, with stations and workshops. We'll cover subjects like bike and auto mechanics, DIY air purifiers, FOSS software, plants grafting, vermicompost and more. Schedule available at the door.
We'll have a space to share thoughts on what self-sufficiency actually means to us, and what we can do right now towards it.

The event is PWYC, no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Masks and hand sanitizer will be provided at the door. The venue is wheelchair accessible.

BRING THINGS TO FIX!

Electronics, bikes, clothes (to fix and/or donate), or anything else you want to bring

If you want to table at the event, you can email us: [email protected]

I'm trying to order a book from #Abebooks and am at the stage where I'm asked to "protect my account" by verifying items in arrays of nine pictures. Choose the curtains, the chairs, the suitcases, and so on. I think I've been through six of these and it's not letting me into the account. Abebooks has been helpful and reliable in the past, but this is #garbagetech and shouldn't exist. #fauxsecurity #techfail

So, after 10 reboots or so, it's working...

I think this wifi chip is just cursed. Sometimes it fails to initiate properly even. It's the MediaTek m7921e. Wouldn't recommend it.

Funny hate post on Reddit about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/FlowX16/comments/x24k73/mediatek_the_wifi_card_that_comes_with_the_laptop/

Apparently tho, it's replaceable, if I care enough. It's a card underneath the NVMe.

Mediatek, the wifi card that comes with the laptop, is an absolute piece of shit

Yea, that's it. It's a huge stinking piece of shit. Have tried installing drivers from several different OEMs. Nothing fixes the issues. Drops...
