If Garak took an extra moment to compose himself while measuring Julian’s wrist, because there was his pulse, his heartbeat, thrumming away under Garak’s fingertips, so alive and so beautiful, it was just because he was being thorough about it.
Garak sipped at his tea, and Julian sipped at his. Garak nearly forgot to make note of the measurement.

It brought to mind an image of lounging comfortably on a picnic blanket in the soft grass, downwind of an orchard whose trees were in full bloom, and reading aloud from Julian’s first edition of Lord of the Rings or a stirring volume of Cardassian folk poetry, while Julian listened in with quiet affection, his head resting comfortably in Garak’s lap. There was a flask of aromatic tea and a tin of softly spiced biscuits, and the sun was warm, tempered by a gentle breeze. Now there was an idea for a date if ever there was one, he thought: a dangerous thought to think, of course, but it was hard not to when Julian was so near to him.

Day 9 (belated) of Stream Ink is a beautiful Autumn day, and these two little loves are Frog-and-Toading it on a beautiful tandem cycling tour, wrapped up in warm woollens and there’s undoubtedly a pot of hot tea and a plate of warm scones and jam waiting at the end of their journey 🍂
"Care for a sip of my finest vintage?" Garak asked him, plucking a crystal decanter and glass from the ornately carved wooden sideboard, as Julian seated himself at the table. "You've travelled far to get here, my dear. You must be in want of a... nightcap."
"Oh, yes please," Julian agreed, accepting the glass, increasingly flustered. "Just one, though? Are you not drinking?"
Garak beamed at him, leaning in a little closer, and served a generous pour.
"Oh, my dear doctor." His voice was soft in Julian's ear, barely above a whisper. "You should know I never drink... wine."
