Learned and played Cyberpunk 2077: Gangs of Night City (from @cmongames) as the Tyger Claws. I come in 3rd place, but enjoyed it quite a bit, plenty of things to do! #gangsofnightcity #cyberpunk #cmongames #boardgames

The problem with big #BoardGames like #GangsOfNightCity, #Scythe, #MageKnight, and #Gloomhaven (et al) is getting a large enough group together to play the game consistently to get past the learning curve so the actual scenarios and storylines can be played. A lot of those big modern games do have "solo play" rules, which is definitely nice, but there's nothing like playing one of those games with a full complement of players. It really changes up the strategies and how the game is played.

But it's definitely hard getting the same group of people together to play the same game for any length of time and long enough to either complete storylines or get comfortable enough with the mechanics to have faster, more interesting games. Definitely a trade-off between rules/board complexity and the average player's replayability quotient. #BoardGameProblems, I guess.

And BTW, if there's anyone out there in the Austin metro area that would like to have a regular meetup - even for just a short time, like say every weekend for a month or two - to play through GONC or any one of the other games mentioned above, please hit me up! I want to get comfortable enough with those games to experience all that they have to offer!

I was relatively quiet yesterday because I spent pretty much all day playing #boardgames with local  choom @ety and a bunch of (hopefully) new friends from the local Board Games Consortium here. Around 10 hours of gaming madness yesterday!

We played things like #SpaceBase, #CthulusVault, #Root, #Anomia, #TuringMachine, #Guilliotine, and several other games of which I can't recall the names at the moment. I won one, lost most of the rest. But it was fun, fun, fun!

My personal crowning achievement was finally being able to play Cyberpunk #GangsOfNightCity with actual people (and a full complement at that)! According to the rules, the game maxes out at 5 players (which kind of sucks, considering there are 3 additional gangs and 2 Nomad clans with the Badlands expansion), but we played the tutorial mission to get everyone familiar with the mechanics and that still took like 3 hours. But I learned a lot about game having a "full boat" of players. I know what I'm going to do different next time, for sure!

The one thing I forgot to do was take pictures of GONC in it's full, in-progress glory!

So much fun, and I'm looking forward to doing it again soonish. Thanks for the invite, @ety !

It's a dark and (finally) rainy day here, so I have FINALLY gotten back to finishing my first solo run of Cyberpunk 2077: Gangs of Night City and I won! By a substantial margin, I might add.  Things got really dicey there at the end, as a netrun went way bad (and flatlined ALL my runners) and V was coming at me so hard I could barely hold on to my Pacifica stronghold.

But in the end, a last-minute upgrade to a second heart saved my bacon and the Voodoo Boys prevailed!

You know, I just now realized that all the #GangsOfNightCity minis and area map would be absolutely fantastic to use in a #CyberpunkRed or #Cyberpunk2077 based TTRPG. It's got all the edgerunners (except for Blackhand?!?  ), all the CP2K77 gangs, drones, hideouts, vehicles, and even Trauma Team and Delamain.

I think coupled with what @revengeday got today, that would be a complete TTRPG 3D experience to supplement any #cyberpunkred or whatever version of the RPG that the GM has in mind. One could even use the combat cards as weapon/cyberware drops in the game on the map or in the Tenfold areas.

I have never needed a local #cyberpunkred play group more than I do right now!

Attached: 4 images Maybe I have a weird hobby, but oh well. As a GM, it's important to me that my players have something nice to look at, so I bought myself a Tenfold Set for some beautiful #Cyberpunk aesthetics :cyberpunk: #CyberpunkRed #TTRPG

CORTEX IMPLANT — an LGBTQIA+ friendly cyberpunk'ish fediverse instance!

Got some time to play more #GangsOfNightCity while waiting for tech deliveries. It looks like the Voodoo Boys are in the lead, but the Tygers are amassing quite the last stand in Westbrook!

And of course V is making life miserable for everybody, as usual.

Solo run of #GangsOfNightCity setup complete! Gonna be the Voodoo Boys vs. Tyger Claws vs. V(incent). Should be a good rumble!

On a personal note, it's going to be hard playing the other side after being V for so long. Gotta remember that V and friends are now completely hostile and I've got to try to get them before they get me!

From the GoNC (  the phonetic pronunciation of the acronym is "gonk"  ) rule book on how to choose the player that goes first:

"The player that has spent the most hours playing Cyberpunk 2077 the video game will be the first player. Otherwise, choose randomly."

Here's a couple of teasers of boxes that I've opened so far. Panam, the drones, and hideouts.

Got word that the #Cyberpunk2077 #GangsOfNightCity board game I backed on Kickstarter won't be here by the end of the year.

BUT! The manufacturing is finished and the product is on its way to the US distribution centers, and deliveries are supposed to commence in January. I'm pretty sure I'll still be unemployed at that time, so I'll get a chance to really take my time with exploring it.

Hooray delayed Christmas!
