@ggcraven Exactly my question! How will #GanderSocial be different from the already all-Canadian instances that exist in the Fediverse, such as MSTDN.ca?
Also, whether via ActivityPub or ATproto (Mastodon or Bluesky), social connection in Fediverse or Atmosphere is quite different from social connection via Facebook. The former is like a firehose or ticker tape or snowfall of _continual information_ that you filter (using algorithms or hashtags) in order to collect or find the info bits --droplets, snowflakes, threads, skeets, toots, whatever-- that you want. The latter (FB) is like a private _club of diarists_ willing to share their daily thoughts, opinions and activities with club members, combined with an _archive, games rooms, and rolodex/messaging service_. There are similarities & overlaps, but the experiences are different in significant ways.

I'm not sure how something built using ATProto can reproduce the experience of the latter. And *that's* the niche we need replaced, Canadianized.
