#MorganPark is the epitomy of #GameJournalism.

Apostate. Gullible. Meretricious. Ignorant.

Well, the fault is on #PCGamer side since they hired him to publish on their platform.

I hope they replace him with #AI soon.

Polygon alumni Maddy Myers and Zoë Hannah are launching a new gaming publication! Instant subscribe from me at the early bird rate which I think is still available until tomorrow. In this age where #GameJournalism is imploding and venerable outlets are being strip-mined and driven into the ground by huge companies for a quick buck, it's never been more important to support independent work like this.

Board the Mothership.

You're just in time. A couple weeks from now, on January 26, 2026, we'll be launching the full version of our new gaming website, Mothership, which aims to analyze games specifically through the lens of gender and identity. Stepping into the shoes of another person or thing, inhabiting a body

Looks like Eurogamer have decided to change their website over to the Pay or Okay system. Which kinda sucks, but at least there are still alternatives.

I'm not someone who celebrates people being laid off.

I'm someone who celebrates pieces of shit being laid off.

I'm sure the good journalists among the bunch will be able to get a new job on media one way or another. The rest can put the fucking fries in the bag.

Really good #blog post from Alli 👏

"Gaming isn’t broken. The way people engage with it is, but that can change."

I'm glad I was able to witness the development of games from the 16-bit era onwards. But despite all the problems in today's industry, gaming has more to offer than ever before.

Lay Down Your Sword, There’s Nothing to Fight Here

As I understand it, traditional journalistic coverage has lost a LOT of ground to streamed news/opinion outlets. I think this is irreversible, so gamecrater's closure, though sad, is not surprising.

I don't think it'll be difficult for similar small teams who really are dedicated to bringing gamers fair reviews and balanced views on industry developments, to make a sustainable transition to a streaming format. BUT if they just go with Twitch (Amazon) or Youtube (Google) it may just be transferring the opinion-shaping power to those platforms which may be even more insidious!

I would look into something like PeerTube (https://joinpeertube.org) but that's just me. Anyone want to surface other good options?
