Bucranium on the former Gallowgate Branch of the National Commercial Bank of Scotland in Glasgow. The Bucranium is a very ancient symbol depicting the decorated skull of an ox which can be traced back as far as the Neolithic period. Its use on this otherwise Art Deco building presumably relates to its proximity to the former meat and cattle market on the other side of Gallowgate.

Another of the pair of 1770s tenements on Gallowgate in Glasgow. Unlike later tenements in the city, they're largely built from brick, covered with harling, rather than stone. This one was renovated in 1983 as part of the construction of the modern housing development which can be seen behind it.
