Overview Located in the southeastern portion of the State of Nebraska is Gage County, which uses the City of Beatrice as the county seat. The county is located along Routes 77 and 136, as well as N-8 to the south, N-112 to the southwest, and N-4 in the vicinity. At the northern end of the county are N-41, N-43, and N-34B. Interestingly, Wymore is notable for the Great Plains Welsh Heritage Center and the Wymore Heritage Inn, while Beatrice is home to the Creative Arts Gallery for the county […]

"While doing research on the USGS stream gaging program for a local presentation, [he] found this beautiful image of a classic stilling well from the Kentucky archives. Intakes and valve stems in perfect condition, hand pump and flush tank ready to fill, no kerosene or funky well water smell, and the clock weights on the Stevens recorder have plenty of travel room. Makes them] think of the good old days climbing down well ladders to “muck out” wells. Many of these “tanks” of instrument shelters still exist with either working intakes or as converted bubble gages.
