This historic gable stone called “Die Gode Gehoorsaamt” meaning ‘He Who Obeys God’ is placed at Nieuwe Amstelstraat 68-74.

This stone, also known as “Iosue”, depicts the biblical passage from “Joshua 10”. It portrays the Battle of Gibeon, where Joshua conquers the southern part of Canaan from the Amorites. Yahweh intervened by sending large stones from the sky to strike down the enemy forces. ⚔️

Nieuwe Amstelstraat is a historic street, central to the city’s Jewish heritage. It houses the Jewish Historical Museum, showcasing Jewish culture and history in the Netherlands.
