Immich server 2.6 upgrade ✅

Say NO to G Photos or I Cloud

Immich 2.6 introduces idToken authentication, asset viewer improvements, map side panel, enhanced search results on mobile, better shared link slugs & presets, an improved video player, and a schema-check tool for better management.

#immich #Gphotos #Icloud #selfhosted #homelab @homelab

And it's not only google drive, it now also started on #GPhotos 😒
I already reported the completely same #phishing message three times, but a new one from another account appears again...

Conclusion: it does not matter whether you use centralized or decentralized services, spam is always there...

In case anyone else wondered where the "unsaved creations" in #GooglePhotos went, as the link is now buried in the settings somewhere, just open https://photos.google.com/unsaved

(Note: this is not an invitation for you to tell me how evil Google is, or how I shouldn't be putting my photos in #gPhotos... I shouldn't need to include these footnotes, but experience tells me otherwise)

Google Photos

Home for all your photos and videos, automatically organized and easy to share.

@joyager one of the comments mentions it has a gallery app that does tagging, location tagging and sharing: https://social.privacytools.io/@kravietz/105196155802768059
I suspect that would be https://github.com/nextcloud/photos/ which looks promising.

As indicated in my follo-up post in the thread, I am still looking for an alternative to #gPhotos myself and am welcoming suggestions.

The entire thread already has some interesting suggestions, such as #digikam, #OwnPhotos, the aforementioned #NextCloudPhotos, #Plex and #SynologyMoments.

@[email protected] NextCloud has a pretty good photo gallery, map based on EXIF GPS tags, face recognition and OCR apps.
