Two things can be true, and are both true, both at the same time:

1. The current Iranian regime rules with an iron fist and murders 10.000++ of their own citizens.

2. US military intervention against current Iranian regime will only result in further humanitarian tragedy, won't bring about regional peace.

As many have pointed out, moreso most recently, look at how US spent decades, trillions of dollars, and thousands of US soldiers' & Afghani civilian & govt lives to "successfully" replace the Taliban with the Taliban.

Bigotry should not be outlawed. Specifically feelings of bigotry. Because all humans will always be bigoted to some level or another.

What should be punished should be unfair and unjust actions motivated by bigotry.

Let people feel bigoted, it cannot be prevented. What can be managed though, are harmful actions motivated by bigotry.

Before the end of World War II, the average nation-state the World over regardless of system of government would, on average, have well above 50% of their national yearly spending allocated to the military.

After World War II, that global average fell to under 6%.

Anecdotally there's a trend in recent years within this decade for that average to rise towards 10% or higher. But nowhere near 50%. Not yet at least.
