I am a traditionalist when it comes to #budo training weapons, and a decent #bokken or #jo is a MUST for training. Shinai are often worthless, given how tey are built, only the #fukuro shinai survives and delivers, really.

That said, lately (well, since 2010s) I've been using polypro bokken often. They're surprisingly adequate, and good luck trying to break one.
