PBS talk to Columbia's Karen Young about fuel shortages in east Asia, and attempts to control demand in response.
So far Europe, the US, and higher-reserve countries in Asia are mostly seeing price impacts on transportation so far.
It'll take 3-4 _months_ in some areas (Kuwait in particular) to fully restart wells, and those won't restart until portside storage is drawn down enough to provide a destination. So add the 45(ish) days transit time, and you're looking at, oh... 5-6 months of follow-on impacts and upwards price pressure just for crude oil.
And that, of course, doesn't even get into the price impacts on derived products, which are legion.
