PBS talk to Columbia's Karen Young about fuel shortages in east Asia, and attempts to control demand in response.

So far Europe, the US, and higher-reserve countries in Asia are mostly seeing price impacts on transportation so far.

It'll take 3-4 _months_ in some areas (Kuwait in particular) to fully restart wells, and those won't restart until portside storage is drawn down enough to provide a destination. So add the 45(ish) days transit time, and you're looking at, oh... 5-6 months of follow-on impacts and upwards price pressure just for crude oil.

And that, of course, doesn't even get into the price impacts on derived products, which are legion.

SO MUCH FOR NO NAVY: Overnight (Cascadian / Pacific time), Iran attacked a third ship attempting to make a run through the Strait. More importantly, they escorted two of the ships to the Iranian shoreline, which is hard to do if you don't have at least some sort of functional military ship, even if small.

In addition to the Greek-registered Epaminondas, the IRGC attacked the Euphoria and the MSC Francesca, both registered through Panama. The MSC Francesca and Epaminondas were reportedly "seized" and taken to the Iranian coat.
