on RN Brekkie a few minutes ago, a report on burgeoning ai data-centre growth & demand in straya, followed by sally interviewing some ai spokesborg. whilst this time at least the topic of d/c water & energy demand did arise, unlike many other times that MSM has credulously fellated this ai subject, sally allowed the matter to be batted away with merely a superficial batch of buzzwords & motherhood statements thrown at it.

ofc not touched upon in any way whatsoever, in either the report or the interview, same as every other MSM "foray" into this topic, were the morally-pivotal issue of LLMs hence gen-ai being built on massive info theft, nor the pragmatic-pivotal issue of hallucinations.

MSM continues to be simply pathetic in covering this field.

Fuck Generative AI, coz:

• largest theft of private IP in human history
• generates authoritative bullshit via unsolvable hallucination

This is an appreciation post to all the open source devs who don't allow AI slop anywhere near their projects and recognize that "gen" AI can't be used for good when its existence is built upon fascism and theft.
It doesn't make you a luddite or an enemy to progress. It doesn't make you an annoyance or a bother to your fellow devs or your users, and you are NOT the problem. My code-illiterate ass is grateful to you because so many "open source" devs are happy to forgo all values associated with such projects to gawk at the capitalist theft machine. Its. Mind. Numbing.
