@DL6PL That's cool! I was not aware of the charging bay.
now I also gotta share ๐Ÿคญ I too got some rails (only in the front) and a 3D printed #PowerPole mod for the #ft818

Soooo, new battery pack and lid arrived for my #YaesuFT818, this allows to physically decouple the battery from draining radio.

I hope the battery lasts longer now and I maybe can use more power as described in above earlier post.

#FT818

TIL when the #FT818 is on battery I can TX at higher power (6W) with a fully loaded Li-Ion battery pack (like "WINDCAMP Li-ion Battery Pack 3000mAH") because it delivers above 11.5V which is the threshold for the FT-818 to decide:

(not sure it also applies to #FT817 ...)

I hope someone can help me with this. I purchased a second-hand #ft818, and it came with these retractable legs that I find very useful and would like to order another pair for my #ft817. Unfortunately, I can't go back to the vendor to ask them about it and I was so far unsuccessful in trying to find the manufacturer. Can anyone recognise this item? #qrp #hamradio
@arnie_dxer The last time I contacted #FY5KE was very easily a few weeks ago with the #FT818, 6W and the #EFHW. Their station works really well.

Built a little powerpole battery pack for the 18650 #lifepo4 cells connecting via #powerpole for my #ft818. This is not going to last long ๐Ÿ˜…

Cool moment improvised this afternoon with the #ft818, the EFHW antenna in the trees permanently installed, Unun home made and a 45Ah battery. Some QS0 with 4Z, I, OZ and one regret, YC1RCU on 10m but impossible to do. I then stopped, it was too hot in the sun and the coax was too short to go in the shade ๐Ÿ˜€ #hamradio
Crap AliExpress manual antenna tuner update: I've been using it for #ft8 with the back off. I thought that the point of most stress would be spark-overs on the polyvaricons but it's not. The T106-2 toroid gets warm to touch on contacts using 15 or 20 watts. I could also see the SWR going up from 1:1.25 to 1:1.45. On higher frequencies the match can be slightly short of 1:1 due to the minimum capacitance of the polyvaricons as well. $15 well spent if you've an #ft818 or go QRP, tho. #hamradio
Thinking about selling my Yaesu #ft818 to buy a Xiegu #x6100 . Opinions?
