🛒📉 Ah, Fry's Electronics, the graveyard of tech dreams, where once upon a time you could snag a motherboard and a 5-cent hot dog in the same aisle. Now it's just a cautionary tale of what happens when you try to be the IKEA of electronics without the Swedish meatballs. RIP Fry's, we barely knew ye (or needed you). ⚰️💻

What's left of Fry's Electronics in #Austin. It's being gutted for a fitness gym. As if there's not a Planet Fitness **two doors over**.

Sad. But 25 ft palm trees and a 10 ft snake statue would make interesting yard decorations!

This isn't 100% accurate but it's not bad - I should know: I was Fry's employee #18 (service tech) back in 1986 at the very 1st location in Sunnyvale... and NO, the 1st store was not the warehouse on Arques Ave.

I could tell you STORIES. Like the hilarious inventory mgmt... the bingo-based sales... the hot dog & Coke days... the chip wars with other shops...
