#linernotes the Capitola pier is still damaged from recent crazy weather. There's a crane, and some other heavy vehicles, out there working on it. This is where I used some #frisket on the painting, so that I could paint the blue and black in, but be able to keep some highlights in my #watercolor. very cool. #cooltricks

#linernotes this was at about 3PM, on new years day in Capitola, California, January 1, 2024. There was a bit of haze and fog, but the sun was strong. Surf was up; surfers were hanging ten nearby. First recent time using a #frisket for watercolor, seems like a good practice, if you can plan ahead! We'll see if I can remember. anway There was a really prominent shadow at the giant oak tree, or whatever that is... it was casting a visual shadow. Conditions were perfect for that to happen.
