Art In Bloom Festival 🧵 Continued

Inspiration: Woman Seated on a Bench, Greek, Attic or Boeotian

Primary floral materials: roses, carnations, grasses, eryngium, scabiosa pods, hanging amaranthus

Context: Tanagra figurines were cherished cast clay possessions that must have hinted at their owner's inevitable death, often accompanying them into the grave. Mutely, they show us a bit about how they lived 2400 years ago.

You have to appreciate the difficulty in interpreting in flowers, a figurine that stood no taller than 6in/15cm. Look closely to see interesting details.

Whilst being stuck in bed on this sunny Friday, I like to pretend that it’s really grey and bleak outside and that I’m not missing out on spring.
So thank God for all the winter pictures, I have in stock.

Our Azalea bush had a couple flowers on it.... and now some snow. #WackyWeather #WackyWAWeather #FridayFlowers
On this snowy Seattle day, we’re reminiscing about our March 2023 visit to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, CA - a landscape bursting with wildflowers, color, and texture. #fridayflowers #desert #roadtrip #travel #visitcalifornia #nature

These are the hardest months for me mentally in PA because it’s still going to be a while in brown town. Thinking of green Seattle on this day four years ago.

It's been an awful week. My solace has been in flowers. I hope you've found yours, too. And if you haven't, be still, listen to yourself and you will. #BloomScrolling #FridayFlowers
