¹ BIS is an old school #FrequentFlyer term for “Butt in Seat” miles. Since so many airlines now give “bonus” miles for things other than travel, keeping track of how many miles you've been in the air is different than “how many miles in your account”.

Many airlines have fortunately switched to distinguishing them as “points” but #Delta stuck with “SkyMiles” to refer to “points” & “miles” to refer to BIS. Still confusing.

Anyway, I have more time waiting in airports to post, obv.

#Delta just recently sent me a special card to thank me for 25 years of flying: 1.6mil BIS (Butt in Seat) miles.
Loyalty to a for-profit company is fickle. LLM-backed AI now sells upgrades & other perks at last minute in automated bidding; the Delta app looks like a casino. FF's like me who buy cheapest tickets & hope for largess of upgrades have no chance.
I'm ∴ choosing whether to establish on Star Alliance or One World; I travel enough that I gotta hedge. Suggestions?
