For many of us in the #rationalist and #humanist community, the focus on how we define ourselves often falls on the difference between developing and upholding the #rationalmind versus #religious tendencies towards bias or inference. This does not mean #freethinkers are not impacted by our own #biases and inferences– we accept them and are aware of them.

For context, there are dozens of far right political operatives who spend most of their time denigrating & demonizing Portlanders experiencing homelessness / addiction. Some of them even have the nerve to post crocodile tears in the wake of these incidents, which they ensure will continue to happen.

“The suspect [McKeever] walked into the camp and started to argue with everyone,” one man told a Portland Police officer who responded to the scene. “It seemed like the suspect was looking to cause issues.” There was also an allegation from someone in the adjacent encampment that McKeever “threatened to run over their camp.” Then McKeever allegedly got into his car and made good on those threats.
