Diving in #newquay bay yesterday. Thinking Amphorina Farrani, the #nudibranchs are slowly appearing on the northern coast of #cornwall. This was tricky to photo, digging into the small animal turf. The long period swell is (finally) dying down, the North Atlantic has been firing solid storm swell throughout the whole winter season and it is only just starting to settle. Easing back into the snorkeling now that spring is here. Apart from the hail and poor visibility is was enjoyable. Ocean on the south coast of Cornwall near Mevagissey is around 10 degrees, but at least there is a little sun now. Been watching the seals the past few weeks along the coast path when out on runs.

Some have been basking in the sun on the surface, bobbing along, others have been moving frantically just below, potentially hunting and others just moving gently along like the one in the picture.

Photo taken whilst freediving a few years ago and looking forward to getting back in at some point this year after a winter of swimming and surfing, as fun as they are, nothing beats enjoying the natural world below the surface too!

I’ve made some dive belt weights! These are made with Smooth-Cast 300 and Cast Magic mica from Smooth-On, with lead shot inside to make up the weight (each of these is 1 lb). The belt loops are still too large - I’ll need to wrap some duct tape around the loops to get them to stay in place on the belt. 😂 But after so many misfires, bad sculpts, bad casts, trial and error, I’m just glad to have something that will actually be wearable. I’m swimming tomorrow, so I’ll try them out then!
