Zones of Progress: The Past, Present and Future of Special Economic Zones

This documentary tells the fascinating story of Special Economic Zones: geographically demarcated areas of countries where different rules and regulations apply. There are more than 7,000 of these across the world, and they have helped shape the development path of countries as diverse as Ireland, China, and the UAE. This documentary explores how they originated, how some of the leading modern zones function, and what the future of these zones could be. From free-cities.org newsletter:

"[..] the arbitration process between #Prospera and the #Government of #Honduras has started [...] for $10.775 billion. Other companies are suing Honduras as well, reacting to other anti-investment moves by the Honduran government. Honduras is also facing pressure from the US, with a bill being introduced to “protect US investment” abroad."

Interesting to see how international-grade agreement works out.

"The Free Cities Foundation argues that, if we want societal change, the best strategy is not to engage in lobbying, but rather to build new “parallel structures” that offer a more attractive alternative to the status quo."

today i had yet again a recurring #idea for #ahoxus. at this point, it becomes almost reality already...

we shall work (together with #freecities inspiration) to make an association for everyone who wants to join in the land and work there together.

tell me, dear fediverse...

what would you like to see in such association? in other words... (i will ask the question in the next, unlinked post)
#freecities sound like a much better name, although a bit less descriptive might also work as better guideline for the organization goal.
@dave @EmmaFaber such a request for trolling! 🤣

i personally hate feminism just a tiny bit less than i hate whatever its opposite gets called. masculism? machismo? anyway...

not because of the ideals, they seem great as a subset of mind issues. but just because the name gives all the wrong introduction, like your post.

people have cultural issues regardless of gender.

in other words, the more we stop to look at gender when we try to understand humans in general, the better we will.

a better name would require, also, a broader approach, of course.

so, if you need a political movement to get your body moving, i highly recommend #tamera or #healingbiotope or perhaps #freecities or even #ecovila

Where does this term #freeCities originate from and how do we get one?
