GOP stoked fears of noncitizen voting. In reality, it's rare

Ohio's Republican secretary of state and attorney general sought to reassure voters before the November election that the state's elections were being vigorously protected against the possibility of immigrants voting illegally. That push coincided with a national Republican messaging strategy warning that potentially thousands of ineligible voters would be voting. The officials' efforts in Ohio led to charges against just six noncitizens in a state with 8 million registered voters. That outcome and the stories of some of those now facing charges show the gap both in Ohio and across the United States between the rhetoric about noncitizen voting and the reality that it's rare and not part of a coordinated scheme to throw elections.

I guess #FrankLaRose, he's been playing the MAGA "illegal voting" violin loudly. I think he's campaigning for the Senate seat.

The GOPers re-worded the ballot to make it even more confusing.

The only VOTE NO ON 1 yard signs were in yards w/ various MAGA men candidates.

The Sec of State is involved in this & I'm watching to see if the GOP machine moves him into vacant Senate seat, #FrankLaRose

#Ohio GOP spends more time intimidating/suppressing voters than campaigning. Why do they bother? We've become a red cult majority state.

"#FrankLaRose changes reverted to the show-me-your-papers requirement, citing the enjoined statute as the relevant authority.

Following the judge’s order, the ACLU of Ohio issued a warning to naturalized voters urging them to bring citizenship documentation to the polls in case they’re challenged."

Federal judge allows proof of citizenship requirement for naturalized Ohioans challenged at polls • Ohio Capital Journal

A federal district judge has given Ohio the green light to require naturalized U.S. citizen voters show proof of citizenship, if asked, to cast a ballot. In 2006, the same judge determined the law requiring this was unconstitutional and permanently enjoined it.

This is what #Ohio leadership looks like & sounds like.

#FrankLaRose is pushing his nose hard up against the glass for. . .a glance from TFG, for a Senate seat?

Ohio election chief's own numbers say fraud is extremely rare. He says that's a 'bogus narrative' • Ohio Capital Journal

When Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose's latest effort to prosecute voter fraud last week showed once again that voter fraud is vanishingly rare in the Buckeye State, he called it a "bogus narrative" on social media.

This is the #Ohio Secretary of State #FrankLaRose in action. . .intimidating voters. Fortunately this time he hit on a determined reporter.
