Chinese researchers have achieved a major medical breakthrough with the development of a revolutionary "bone glue." This innovative biomaterial is designed to rapidly heal bone fractures, setting in less than three minutes. The adhesive works by bonding directly to the bone fragments, providing immediate structural support and stability that is crucial for the healing process.

This technology has the potential to transform orthopedic and trauma surgery. It could significantly reduce recovery times for complex fractures, particularly those that are difficult to treat with traditional plates, screws, or casts. The quick-setting nature of the glue allows for minimally invasive procedures, decreasing surgery time and improving patient outcomes. By accelerating the initial critical phase of bone mending, this adhesive paves the way for faster, more effective treatments, getting patients back on their feet in record time.

Casting and Splinting Products for Accident and Injury Treatment

Casting and splinting are important medical techniques used to immobilize injured or broken bones and joints. Casts and splints help injuries heal properly by preventing unwanted movement.

Last week our #PhD #MeikeGerlach presented her research at the German society of #biomechanics congress in #Heidelberg. Her talk on "Joint contact forces of the lower extremity during straight and curve sprinting" was well received by a large audience. Good job, Meike! In the session on #fracturehealing post-doc #RoseDubbeldam gave a presentation on "Effects of brace wearing and rehabilitation on foot muscle thickness and cross-sectional area after ankle inversion trauma" #DGfB #WagnerLabOnTour

I wish people understood that it's a terrible idea to assume how someone is recovering from a serious injury or health issue.

I'm so exhausted by people assuming that I'm fully healed from shattering my bones just because I'm walking unaided (except for all the metal in/on my bones ofc). It makes it super awkward because I've found out terrible news about my bone health, my fibula is not healing, and my ankle bones are literally growing together (partially due to bone spurs and rapidly disappearing cartilage). When someone is like, "Oh you're all better, it went by faster than you thought, didn't it?" when they see me for the first time in months it makes me so sad and I have no idea how to respond to an assumption like that when I don't want to tell them my business. Because I will very likely never get "better" at this rate but almost everyone in my life is treating me like I should be fine right now.
